≪What is "NETSUKE"?≫

This cat NETSUKE is from an ukiyoe woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The combination of cats playing with each other is transformed into Hannya* in the shadow picture that floats on the shoji paper screen. The fun of Ukiyoe is expressed in detail in the netsuke. This netsuke is full of humor.
